Blast near FC camp in Turbat

Date Jan 1, 2005

QUETTA: Despite strict security measures by paramilitary forces and other law enforcement agencies, a powerful blast jolted Turbat city on Sunday, though no casualty was reported, said a local journalist.

A bomb exploded near the Frontier Corp camp located on the main road in Turbat, some 1,000 km south west of here on the night between Sunday and Saturday. The sound of the explosion was heard at far-away places.

Sources said the explosion could have been caused by a remote control device placed at construction shops near the camp. Meanwhile an individual who said his name was Azad Baloch claimed that the Baloch Liberation Army and Baloch Liberation Front carried out the blast. Azad Baloch said there were about 12 casualties. But officials and independent sources did not confirm any casualty. Frontier Corps officials said they had not received any information.
